It is also the major origin of the People’s Navy; the predecessor East China Military Region Navy was founded right here in Binjiang!

On August 1, 1986, with approval from the Central Military Commission, this warship behind me was named after Binjiang, continuing the Chinese Navy’s Binjiang elements, acknowledging Binjiang’s double support work, and representing the highest honor the Navy gives to the Binjiang People!

For a city, naming a warship is a glory; it not only enhances the citizens’ sense of pride but also forms an effective vehicle to embody patriotic feelings. In the upcoming days, we will open the Binjiang Ship as a national defense education base to the public, inviting officers and soldiers from the Binjiang Ship to enter schools and enterprises, to understand Binjiang’s historical culture and modern developments, and to pass on Binjiang’s red gene.

The same name creates an empathetic bond between the city’s people and the ship’s officers and soldiers. Binjiang is a second home to the Binjiang Ship’s officers and soldiers, and the Binjiang Ship is the hometown ship of the Binjiang People. The tighter the bonds grow between city and ship, the firmer the unity between military and government, military and people becomes.

Comrades, friends, if the naming on August 1, 1986, symbolized the prolonged companionship between our Binjiang and the People’s Navy, then today, the Binjiang Ship’s homecoming visit opens a new Chapter of keeping up with the times in the bond between our Binjiang and the People’s Navy..."

After a round of enthusiastic applause, Vice Mayor Qin briefly continued discussing the ongoing collaboration between the city and the ship under the same name, promoting mutual understanding and support, and certainly better fulfilling the ship’s national defense education function, drawing a beautiful picture of military-civil unity, city and ship harmony, before inviting everyone to warmly welcome Director Yang Nanfei to speak.

Director Yang first thanked the Binjiang’s party, government, military, and citizens for their years of support for the Binjiang Ship, the Destroyer Squadron, and even the Navy East Sea Fleet.
